The World Amateur Salsa Rueda Championship 2008:

We are proud to present the World Amateur Salsa Rueda Championship 2008 in Miami, Florida! It will take place on November 13-16, 2008 at the Deauville Beach Resort . Rueda teams from all over the World will be competing for the World Title and all of the Rueda lovers are welcomed to come and see this amazing Competition. We have Rueda Teams from Italy, Germany, France, Guatemala, Sweden, Miami, San Francisco, Canada and many, many more... already confirmed. Competitors, this is your chance to shine! The World Amateur Cuban Salsa Championship 2008:

We are also very proud to bring to you The World Amateur Cuban Salsa Championship 2007! It will also take place in Miami on November 13-16, 2008 at the Deauville Beach Resort . Couples from all over the world are invited to participate in this Competition, which will consist of Cuban Style Salsa dancing! We will have Cuban Music that will certainly take your breath away! So, if you love Cuban Style, don't miss the chance to compete for the World Title. Rueda members are also invited to participate in the individual competition. Always remember that this is Amateur level.

Definition of an Amateur:
An amateur is a dancer who has never received financial compensation for teaching or
performing in any dance form.

General Rules and Regulations

30% of the entire competitor entries will be eliminated from the Preliminary Round. This process will occur also through the Semifinal Round, therefore there will be 30% left of all competitors registered for the Final Round.

All Competitors must have a Weekend Pass or Day Pass and are required to fill out a registration form and sign a liability waiver compliance.
All Competitors must be 16years old or older in order to compete.
Couples competing in the Rueda Championship, can also compete in the Cuban Salsa Championship.
All Couples Competing in the World Amateur Cuban Salsa Championship must pay a registration Fee of $25.00.
All Rueda Teams Competing in the World Amateur Cuban Salsa Championship must pay a registration Fee of $50.00.
All the Team Captains / Single Competitors will receive a number to be used for the entire weekend and will be responsible to keep that number and Team Captains can be a Pro, or Teacher of Group.
All competitors consent to release the use of their photographs, biographies, and names, for any video or television footage for sale.
The head Judge and the Salsa Rueda Congress Committee will have final say on all discrepancies.
All questions and/or disputes should be brought to the attention of the Head Judge in writing. (The Salsa Rueda Congress will supply a form for this purpose, if needed)

World Amateur Rueda Championship Rules and Regs.

Each Team will be able to choose wether they will dance on the first beat of the music or the second beat of the music.
All competitors have to keep the time during the whole song.
Acrobatic figures are allowed.
Improvisation is highly appreciated.
Each Rueda team has to be formed with no less than 3 couples, and no more than 8 couples.
In the Preliminaries and Semi-Finals, each Rueda team will have to dance for a period of 2 minutes. The music will be chosen by the Official Commission.
In the Finals, each Rueda team is required to have their own Music. The music has to be in CD format, and 100% Salsa, even though a Salsa Mix can be used. Routines are to be 2 1/2 minutes minimum, to 3 minutes maximum. Customes and choreographies are not required, but recommended.
